On this day, February 20, 1948, Clyde Caldwell was born in Gastonia, North Carolina. After studies at the Univ.of North Carolina, Charlotte and then at the Univ. of North Carolina at Greensboro, Caldwell worked as an illustrator for the Charlotte Observer and doing other commercial work. Eventually he began to specialize creating fantasy and sci fi illustrations.
