On this day, January 16, 1910, illustrator and cartoonist Aurelius Battaglia was born in Washington, D.C.  After studying at the Corcoran School of Art, Battaglia went west and worked for Walt Disney Studios. He then had an extensive career as a children’s book illustrator.
