On this day, February 5, 1909, illustrator Tom Lovell was born in New York City. After studying art at Syracuse University, Lovell began illustrating for various pulp publications. In the 30s his illustrations were found in many popular magazines. During WWII Lovell illustrated for the Marine Corps magazine, Leatherneck. In the 50s Lovells work expanded to creating illustrative work for National Geographic, and in the 60s for the Mormon church.
