On this day, June 8, 1931, illustrator Virginia Frances Sterrett died in Los Angeles, California. Sterrett studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1919 she received her first commission to illustrate a book of fairy tales by Penn Publishing Company of Philadelphia. She continued to produce fantasy story illustrations until her death.
