On this day, June 9, 1925, illustrator, portrait painter, and political cartoonist, David Edward Cronin, also known as Seth Eyland, died in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania. During the Civil War, Cronin worked at Harper’s Weekly as a staff artist. Cronin also  illustrated the two-volume Personal Memoirs of U.S. Grant with 255 original pen-and-ink and watercolor sketches.
