On this day, March 21, 1953, illustrator and author David Wisniewski was born in England. After studying at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, Wisniewski worked as a clown before becoming an author and illustrator of children’s books. His 1997 book Golem won that year’s Caldecott Medal.
