On this day, May 1, 1881, Herbert Moore was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. After studying at the Manual Training High School in Indianapolis, Moore studied at the Art Students League in New York and then with Howard Pyle in Delaware. Moore did illustration work for Harper’s Monthly, Woman’s Home Companion, and The Delineator.
