On this day, May 14, 1924, cartoonist Brad Anderson was born in Jamestown, New York. After service in the U. S. Navy, Anderson received a BFA from Syracuse University. As a student Anderson produced cartoons for student magazine and also for popular commercial magazines. He created his most famous comic strip Marmaduke in 1955.
