Rockwell Center Fellowships are awarded on an annual basis to four recipients

This fellowship may be used only during the year/twelve month period for which it is awarded. Recipients who have already received one of these fellowships may apply for another after a period of three years have elapsed. The term of these grants may be carried out in residence at the Norman Rockwell Museum, the Fellow’s home institution, or at another appropriate site.

  • Fellowship Stipend: $1,500
  • Fellowship Time Period: May 2, 2015 through May 2, 2016
  • Application Deadline: February 8, 2016
  • Upon completion of the Rockwell Center Fellowship grant period, Fellows will be invited to present a public lecture at the Norman Rockwell Museum. Fellows will be expected to provide a copy of their finished research and its subsequent publication for the Museum’s library and archives.
  • The Rockwell Center for American Visual Studies will be credited as a supporter when a Fellow’s research is published.

 

ELIGIBILITY: SENIOR FELLOW

Rockwell Center Senior Fellowships are intended for scholars with a distinguished publication record who hold a doctoral degree, or who possess an equivalent record of professional accomplishment at the time of application. Senior Fellow applicants must:

  • Offer a proposal for scholarly research focused on or relating to a topic about American illustration art or referencing published images. Although the topic may be historically and/or theoretically grounded, attention to the art object and/or image should be foremost. Projects must be object and/or culturally oriented, employing art historical or visual studies approaches.
  • Be a United States citizen or a permanent resident at the time of application.

 

ELIGIBILITY: DISSERTATION FELLOW

Rockwell Center Dissertation Fellowships are open to doctoral candidates who are currently working on dissertation research or writing in or relating to the field of American illustration art and visual studies. Dissertation Fellowship candidates must:

  •  Be a Ph.D. candidate in a department of art history, American studies, cultural studies, visual studies, or related field.
  • Have a dissertation focused on a topic relating to American illustration art or referencing published images. Although the topic may be historically and/or theoretically grounded, attention to the art object and/or image should be foremost. Projects must be object and/or culturally oriented, employing art historical or visual studies approaches.
  • Be a United States citizen or a permanent resident at the time of application.

ROCKWELL CENTER FELLOW APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applications must include:

  • Completed application form (available at www.rcavs.org)
  • Research proposal (up to five pages, double spaced)
  • Research bibliography (up to two pages)
  • Selected images
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Three letter of reference
