In 1953, Everett Shinn died in New York, NY. In 1893 Shinn began to work for the Philadelphia Press as an illustrator along with John Sloan, William Glackens, and George Luks. By 1897 Shinn had moved to New York and was working as an illustrator for The World. Like his friends, Shinn continued to work as an illustrator even as others of his paintings were exhibited as fine art.
